Civil CAD Operator/Designer - Houston

Description:
Responsibilities include assisting the Professional Engineer, Project Manager and/or Designer on a wide range of site civil development projects both in the Public and Private sectors. This position will be responsible for preparing construction plans with AutoCAD / AutoCAD Civil 3D for all projects including but not limited to project specific notes, details, dimensional layouts, grading, drainage, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewer systems, pavement jointing, detention, mitigation plans, etc. Furthermore this position will include the preparation of site feasibility studies, working with governmental reviewing agencies to obtain plan approval and permits.

The position requires attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills, team player both independent and working with a project team, proactive attitude, and great organizational skills.

Requirements:
An Associate’s Degree and/or an equivalent certification with no less than two years of engineering field related experience with Auto CAD 2016 is preferred for CAD Operators and four to seven years of engineering field related experience for Designers. Prior site development experience and/or public plan and profile work as well as knowledge with the surrounding local reviewing agencies design and permitting processes is a plus.

Candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

Project Manager

Description:
This position is responsible for the overall successful completion of assigned projects, including, but not limited to, scope development, contract negotiations, organization, compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, cost and schedule controls, implementation, staff and client management, and quality control. The Project Manager is assigned to projects which are more standard in nature, encompass a moderate level of complexity, skill and experience, typically involving a few stakeholders with similar interests, and a lower dollar volume.

Responsibilities:
• Plan, schedule, assign, supervise and motivate the work of project team members
• Ensure the performance of Company QA/QC procedures on all project deliverables; direct a staff engaged in the design, preparation of drawings, plans, specifications, and
estimates for a variety of work projects/contracts
• Coordinate the inspection of construction work performed under contracts, including the interpretation and revision of plans and specifications, and the maintenance of related records/reports
• Monitor projects to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Coordinates activities with various project approval agencies
• Represent client issues at meetings and conferences with project stakeholders as appropriate
• Act as an internal consultant to fellow team members, providing input for business
decisions and communicating said decisions
• Work closely with project team to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to discipline, staffing, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity
• Recommend improvements to department procedures on an on-going basis; identifying "best business practice"
• Support pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant
• Prepare clear, concise correspondence and complex, technical reports using correct punctuation, spelling and grammar
• Communicate effectively with Supervisor on personal schedule and department matters
• Deal effectively with representatives of other organizations, as well as with the public
• Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree in civil engineering
• Professional Engineers' (P.E.) License in the State of Texas
• Minimum of five (5) years progressive design experience and three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in professional civil engineering work
• Must possess current knowledge of local, state and federal design codes and regulations, industry practices and regulations, and the ability to read and understand construction drawings and legal documents
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software for use in completing engineering assignments
• Must be able to demonstrate/perform sound engineering principals in solving engineering problems, as well as effectively communicate said solutions to all parties involved
• Must be able to lead and contribute to the design, execution and project management support for all projects, maintain client and contractor relationships, and attend necessary meetings in the greater Houston area
• Must be able to plan and/or develop engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial problems requiring state-of-the-art expertise
• Must have a proven ability to work in a team environment with design staff
• Must be able to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments
• Must be able to understand and implement RGME Financial Management
• Must possess and exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and possess the ability to think critically and solve problems while maintaining a team oriented environment

Description:
This is an entry level engineering position, which requires close supervision. This position will perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Responsibilities:
• Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer using prescribed engineering methods – collects data and gathers information; prepares drawings and visual aids, and performs H&H related modeling
• Applies standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
• Assists in the preparation of engineering reports and supporting documents for subdivisions, commercial developments, multi-family developments, private development projects, and/or public works projects
• Assists in the preparation of engineering calculations for the hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, earthwork quantities, floodplain mitigation, and other supporting documentation for public and/or private projects
• Coordinates project assignments with those of others in his/her discipline group
• Provide accurate accounting of time spent on projects, with descriptions for each time entry
• Perform engineering design/drafting using AutoCAD and ArcGIS software
• May assist in coordinating and/or directing the work of Drafters and Technicians
• May attend “kick-off” and design review meetings

This is an intermediate level position for a professional engineer, designed to further develop the professional knowledge, skills and abilities, of the Engineer-In-Training. This position will perform engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives involving conventional types of engineering plans, surveys, investigations or structures. • Assists in the preparation of engineering improvement plans, reports, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications for assigned projects
• Assists in the preparation of engineering calculations, such as storm drain, wastewater, water systems, earthwork quantities, floodplain mitigation transportation, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation for public and private projects
• Coordinates project assignments with those of others in his/her discipline group
• Researches code issues , design options and document findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers
• May review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects, and recommend changes

Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
• E.I.T. Certification
• One (1) to two (2) years of experience as an Engineer In Training
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs & AutoCADD software.

Interested candidates will work with the lead engineer and other staff, to drive the design on a variety of Civil/Site Development projects. In this position you will need to be able to think quickly on your feet and be an exceptional problem solver. Previous experience designing site layouts, performing grading and drainage design and permitting of commercial & residential site development projects, road design, utility design, municipal engineering, and hydrologic/hydraulic analysis is required.
Under the guidance of our lead engineer and as a member of a project team, this position will:
• Prepare project technical reports and specifications
• Review project design criteria
• Gather data and design information needed for project design including current city, state and federal codes

Requirements:

• Must be a registered PE with at least 5 years’ experience post certification
